The Montana Museum of Art & Culture (MMAC), one of Montana’s three state museums, is home to a world-class collection of nearly 12,000 objects spanning thousands of years of art history. Established in 1895, just a year after the University of Montana’s founding, MMAC serves as a vibrant teaching museum that celebrates diverse artistic expression from Montana and beyond. Located in its first dedicated museum building on the UM campus, MMAC offers a welcoming space for the public to explore and engage with the rich visual arts heritage of the Rocky Mountain Northwest—free of charge.
