Political Science at the University of Montana explores how power is exercised and how communities and nations are governed, both in theory and in practice. Our faculty are committed to engaging students, colleagues, and the broader public in meaningful conversations about political systems, law, public policy, and governance. With courses spanning local, national, and international politics, political theory, constitutional law, and public administration, we equip students to understand—and influence—the pressing issues of our time. In alignment with UM’s vision of “Creating Change Together,” our programs foster critical thinking, leadership, and informed civic engagement.
