Corinna Kirsch is a historian of art, environment, and computation. She specializes in intermedia and systems art of the 1960s and 1970s and their afterlives in present-day forms of digital media, art, and activism. Her academic writing has appeared in Art Journal, IEEE Annals of the History of Computing, and Panorama. As an art critic, she has written about contemporary digital art for a varied set of online and print publications including Vice, The Art Newspaper, Art F City, and Millenium Film Journal. Corinna previously held the position of O’Brien Curatorial Fellow at the Weisman Art Museum, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, where she organized collections-based exhibitions. She founded the independent art space Concertina Gallery (Chicago, IL) with the curator Katherine Pill.
Corinna's teaching philosophy centers on a student-centered approach, emphasizing hands-on activities and interactive assignments. She strives to help students discover practical connections within art history and visual culture by integrating their personal interests into the subject matter. Past coursework includes student-made zines, proposals for new emoji, and an “encyclopedia” of photography.
