Laura Guay

The focus of Laura’s professional career has centered on elevating trauma-informed systems of care in service to children and families. Laura has experience within state agencies providing direct child protective services, managing a rural child protection unit, and supporting workforce development for child welfare professionals statewide. Laura had the privilege of working for the National Native Children's Trauma Center for five years. This work included supporting trauma-informed system change within Tribal programs serving Indigenous children and families across the country. Much of this work is guided by community-based participatory research and involves adapting evidence-based approaches to assessment, treatment, and evaluation to pomote cultural congruence with the local community, and ensure esponsive to the needs of each unique tribal program. Examples of this work include facilitating focus groups with tribal leadership, agency management, field staff, and community stakeholders, collecting and analyzing program data to inform decision-making, and developing trauma informed program policy and procedures that guide case practice.
