Project Details

Description

Redwood forest preservation and accurate accounting of the state’s total greenhouse gas inventory require science-based management strategies, where direct and continuous monitoring of forests’ CO2 and water fluxes are crucial. We will establish eddy-covariance flux towers at representative coastal redwood forests to directly and continuously measure the ecosystems’ CO2, water, and energy fluxes and climatic conditions such as precipitation, fog, and soil moisture with the explicit purpose of providing information that can be used to monitor all redwood forests throughout California.
