Abstract

This Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was created as an informal organization intended to foster dialogue on economic cooperation and liberalization among the Pacific Basin countries. The organization has since acquired a more formal character with a multitude of committees and working groups. This paper discusses APEC and its potential for helping member countries in the face of economic difficulties in Southeast Asia.
