Dung beetles unaffected by army ant swarm

Abstract

Swarm raiding army ants consume most of the arthropods that they are able to catch. I report observations indicating that some species of dung beetle (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) are immune to these army ant raids. Implications of these findings are discussed briefly.
