Abstract
Mental health should be conceptualized as a state of psychological well-being and not merely the absence of mental illness. Considerations of mental health and migration encompass issues, conditions, opportunities, and constraints related to the psychological well-being of mobile persons, including proactive and reactive movers. The mental health of migrants influences the capacity to realize personal aspirations and affects caregivers, families left behind, communities, and sending and receiving societies.
