Abstract
Differential-algebraic equations naturally arise in numerous important applied contexts, e.g., electrical circuits, constrained dynamical motion and fluid dynamics. The authors show how the structure of the solution space for some typical problems can be illuminated through the introduction of various regularizations which often can be given natural physical interpretations.
