Abstract

Due to increasing industry demand for personnel who work effectively in virtual/distributed teams, MIS students should undergo training to improve their competence in virtual teamwork. This conceptual paper proposes a fourdimension framework for virtual teamwork training: Goal, Process, People and Technology. Purposes for these dimensions are identified, activities that team members need to engage in to achieve the purposes are explained, information technologies that can be used to facilitate these activities are listed, and teaching tips for each dimension are discussed.
