Abstract
Individuals diagnosed with heart failure were initially discouraged from engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activity. The last 20 years of heart failure research have provided data demonstrating the safety and efficacy of exercise training in this population, refuting the old belief system. As a result, patients with heart failure are now appropriately encouraged to participate in some form of moderate aerobic exercise on a regular basis.
